Christmas shopping for a family tends to break into tiers: the stocking fillers, the presents for cousins and teachers, and the one or two bigger things. Everything below has a name or a photo on it, and everything is made to order in Auckland.

Under $10: stocking fillers

Three ways to put it together
For one child, about $30. A name keychain for the stocking ($6), a hoodie pencil holder under the tree ($16), and a photo magnet of them for the grandparents ($8). Total $30, and their name is on two of the three.
For a family of four, about $25. Four name keychains, one each, in four colours ($24), so the house keys stop being mixed up. It is a small present, and it is the kind that gets used every day.
For the grandparents, $16. Two 10 cm photo magnets ($16) of the two best photos of the year. If there are more grandchildren than magnets, get the 8 cm size at $5 each instead.
Getting the names right
At Christmas the most common mistake is a spelling done from memory. Check names against a card, an invitation or a message from the person. Everything here is printed with the name as part of the piece, so it cannot be corrected after it is made.
For cousins whose names you are only mostly sure of, a photo magnet avoids the problem entirely.
When it isn't the right thing
If you are buying for someone in the last week before Christmas, leave these for next year. Each piece is made to order, so it is not sitting on a shelf ready to post.
